In 2009, a group of FPL Linemen brought forth an unpaid overtime lawsuit against Florida Power and light for time worked during their lunch break. The unpaid lunch time where FPL employees were required to monitor a radio and had their movement restricted resulted in claims of unpaid overtime which fall under the Fair Labor Standatrds Act. A federal lawsuit was filed, and the Middle District of Florida certified the class. Thereafter, in August 2012, the case was resolved.
