former motel clerk in Melbourne, Florida successfully sued her former employer in Federal Court.  The jury heard evidence that the motel clerk was required to work double and triple shifts at the front desk of the motel.  The motel illegally paid the clerk on an per diem basis rather than an hourly rate at time and a half for every hour worked over 40 per week.

The motel also illegally deducted food and lodging from the clerk’s wages.  This claim was brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Jury Verdict. This action came before the Court for a trial by jury. The issues have been tried and the jury has rendered its verdict.

IT IS ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that Judgment is entered in favor of Plaintiff in the amount of thirteen thousand, thirteen dollars and sixty cents ($13,013.60) jointly and severally against Defendants Mal-Motels, Inc. and Mohammad Malik. Plaintiff shall recover jointly and severally from Defendants Mal-Motels, Inc. and Mohammad Malik her costs of action.
